The Skincare Tag

I was tagged by the gorgeous Lyndsay at FizzyPeaches! :) My knowledge of all things beauty and skincare is next to nothing in comparison to other bloggers, but I do love talking about what works and what doesn't, and the latest fads that are doing the rounds. I can't tell you how much I've learned in the past 6 months alone from reading various beauty and skincare blogs.

Let's crack on then shall we? :)

1. Describe your skincare routine in 5 words...
Cleanse. Tone. Moisturise. Acne Management.

2. What is your skin type?
Combination/oily. I also have dry patches and acne issues thanks to the contraceptive implant and being on a heavy dose of medications. It's a nightmare.

3. What is your favourite skincare product? It has to be 'Coalface' by Lush. It has been an absolute revelation for me in terms of soaps for my face. It cleans your skin so incredibly well, you can tell there's not a trace of badness left but your skin hasn't been left completely dried out in the process. It's incredible and I cannot fault it. Ever since coalface was introduced to me, I've been on an obsessive quest to find other skin products that contain charcoal. Definitely my best friend.

4. Top blemish zapper...
I don't think there is a product out there that can work to deal with my blemishes single-handed. I have to use a combination to get things under control. It has taken me years to find that Freederm is the best product for me. Seriously, I think since I was about 16 I must have tried every blemish product out there. First up, I always use the 'sensitive facial wash' after coalface. Then I use 'Fast Track' once I've tried my face and used whatever toner I happen to be feeling at that particular time. Finally I use their 'Perfecting Moisturiser'. I have had such a hard time finding a moisturiser that will work with me rather than against me, and I absolutely love that this works to clear my skin at the same time!

5. Facewipes - yay or nay...
Yay! 100% Once again I am going to gush about Freederm, because their 'Pore Cleansing Wipes' saved my skin when I was too poorly to manage most basic tasks. Granted, they're not ideal for removing a day's worth of make-up, but you can use them afterwards and they do a brilliant job of making your skin feel fresh and clean. I would recommend them to anyone going through a period where they're too poorly to care for themselves properly.
6. Toner - yay or nay...
I'm on the fence. Until very recently, I had completely forgotten about toner and what the actual point of it was. I'm still not 100% on that one to be honest. But I bagged a few little bottles in The Body Shop sale and my skin seems to be responding quite well! The toner experiment is in progress and I shall be reporting back in due course! ;)
7. High-end skincare or high-end make-up?
Make-up. Without a doubt. As much as I lust over the expensive skincare products, I know there is a very good chance that my skin will not react in a favorable manner. So in the spirit of not wasting my money, I will happily indulge in some Dior make-up to add to my collection.

8. What is the most unusual skincare product you have tried?
Probably the Lush face masks! I find them unusual because they're 100% natural and do such amazing work. The philosophy behind Lush is also a break-away from the norm and it's absolutely awesome.
9. You're in a French Pharmacy and can only pick one item - what would it be?
Je ne sais pas!!!!!!
10. Top Skincare Tip...
Healthy skin comes from within so make sure you keep well hydrated, stay away from toxic-type foods and make sure to find a product that works with your skin-type to get the best results.
