I woke up at 6am and peed like a racehorse! I felt pretty
groggy – understatement – and went back to sleep until my alarm went off at
9.30am. I had a horrible headache and it was such a fight to get out of bed.
Was I hungry? Yes, and it was a very alien sensation to have upon waking! All I
had time for was a mug and a half of hot water with lemon before my taxi
arrived to take me to the day hospital. I took juice 1 with me and drank it
during the group.
After I’m done there it’s my usual routine to go to Café Nero
and get a lovely grande soya cappuccino and my god how I was craving it!! It
was so incredibly cold outside though, that I walked as fast as I could back to
the taxi rank and went straight home.
The rest of my day has been uneventful. I have my juices
every 2-3 hours and drink hot tea or sugar free Ribena in between. The warmth
in my stomach keeps hunger pangs at bay! I also find it very important to make
each juice last at least 15 minutes. It feels like I am constantly drinking but
it’s a good way to get that hand-to-mouth sensation and comfort without
breaking your cleanse. Plus all this liquid is going to flush out loads of
toxins and that can only be a good thing! My kidneys will be squeaky clean!
I am noticing a lot more hunger this time compared to
previous juice cleanses and it’s making me a bit nervous! It’s quite rare for
me to experience genuine hunger from the bottom of my stomach and the eating
disordered side of my brain just loves to play games with me. That bitch just
won’t die.
But I’m feeling ok. I’m not sitting in the kitchen crying or
opening and closing cupboards. Tomorrow evening will test my strength as the
boyfriend is coming over for the night and will obviously be eating dinner and
snacking. There have been moments when I’ve felt my energy dip so low I’m on
the brink of falling asleep and had a couple of brief dizzy spells but my body
is always quite dramatic so I’m not worried or anything.
This is where distraction comes in. I have to do something
practical in situations like this and I already have a few go to’s: have a
shower or bath, go on twitter or blogger, clean, play with Lily… You get the
idea! I’m fully intending to take up needlecraft again very soon so that will
be another useful thing to have in my arsenal.
I didn’t weigh myself this morning but I do feel a lot less
bloated and I think my stomach has deflated a bit but my observations of my
body are not exactly reliable…
It’s 8pm now and I have 1 juice left, number 6 of course. My
plan is to try and drag this out until 9.30pm then I can go to bed really early
and not worry about my stomach or head keeping me awake.
Nearly half way there already!
I'd love to hear your experiences with juice cleanses or other types of fasting! xx
